Rochester Cops Provide Christmas Miracle for 70 Kids
Saturday was the 16th annual Shop with a Cop day which provides kids in need the opportunity to have a brighter holiday and build a positive relationship with local law enforcement. Over 60 Rochester Police Officers, Olmsted Country Sheriff’s Deputies, Community Service Officers, Detention Deputies, MN State Patrol Troopers, and Rochester Police Explorers, gathered at Wal-Mart North in Rochester for a day of shopping with 70 area students. Each child was given a $110.00 gift card to purchase gifts for themselves and family members and was treated to lunch from Sam’s Club and ice cream from Culver’s.
Sgt. Ryan Manguson of the Rochester Police Department said, "We thank our generous sponsors for their commitment to making the holiday season brighter for our area youth and their families. The Shop with a Cop program is a wonderful example of the way our community comes together for those in need. PAL is proud to host this great event.”
This event was made possible by sponsors including Canadian Honker, City Auto Glass, Rochester Police Benevolent Association, Olmsted County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Culver’s.
