Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A fire Wednesday afternoon resulted in significant damage to a home in northwest Rochester.

A spokesman says the Rochester Fire Department responded to 1309 50th Street Northwest just before 3:30 PM and found fire and smoke coming from the side of the house. The fire apparently started in a lower level bedroom and grew to include a window directly above the fire by the time fire crews arrived at the scene.

Heavy and smoke damage was reported throughout the residence. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
