Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man apparently scared off a would-be daylight burglar Thursday.

The 28-year-old homeowner called 911 around 1:30 PM to report he had just scared the man off his rear deck.

The man says he initially heard someone knock on his front door. When he looked out, he saw a man he did not recognize. He decided not to answer the door. He saw the stranger walk to a car with 3 or 4 other men inside and they drove off.

A few minutes later, the homeowner heard a noise on his rear deck and saw a man with a ski mask looking through the glass door. When he saw the homeowner, the man fled.

Officers arrived to find footprints around the home. They also found a screen had been cut.

The car the men were in was described as a silver Chevy Sonic model.

The house that was apparently being targeted is located in the 800 block of East Village Circle SE.
