You've had that feeling, that deep sink in your stomach when you realize you forgot to drop off your library books and now there are some fines to pay.  My kids have learned this lesson the hard way too and have "misplaced" their library books in their abyss of a room and I made them dig into their piggy bank to find the money for their library fine.  All of those feelings are now gone because the Rochester Public Library is going to be fine free.

The Rochester Public Library announced on their Facebook page that their board voted and came to a unanimous decision to eliminate all current and future fines for overdue materials starting June 1st.

Starting June 2020, all library accounts will be wiped clean of any and all charges. Overdue fines, lost item fees, and all other fees will be removed, giving all cardholders a Fresh Start. - Rochester Public Library website

Does this mean there are zero fines for everything?  No, you still need to be responsible and turn items in, preferably by the date they are due. And, if you lose a book or it gets damaged, you will be required to take care of the fees that incur as a result.

What's the biggest fine that you've ever had to pay?  I'd love to hear your story.  Send me a message on my Facebook page (Jessica On The Radio) or DM me on Instagram.
