If you enjoyed the cool fall weather we had over the weekend, Monday was a rude awakening-- and a record-setting one at that.

I don't know about you, but I'm WAAAAY over all that heat and humidity for the year. (My frustration is compounded by our trip to Spain and Italy in mid-September, where the weather was hot and humid the entire time, and where many places weren't air-conditioned, or if they were, it was kinda sketchy.) I mean, can we just have some nice, cool fall weather before the white stuff starts to fly (like it did out in Montana over the weekend)?!?

And, if you, like me, thought it seemed a little hot and humid for the last day of September on Monday, you were right. In fact, it was the HOTTEST last day of September EVER in Rochester.

That's right, we set a brand new record high temperature here in southeast Minnesota for September 30th, when the temp jumped all the way up to 88 degrees. (That's according to KTTC's Chief Meteorologist Nick Jansen.)

And, the dew point-- the measure of moisture in the air that makes it feel so sticky and oppressive-- was the highest-ever for September 30th too. Twin Cities meteorologist Paul Douglas noted he saw dew points of 71 at the Minneapolis airport yesterday (anything above 70 degrees is considered 'tropical'), and I noted an unofficial dew point of 71 as well at our house in northwest Rochester.

So, yeah, it was pretty hot and sticky, and not at all like fall yesterday. Just to put it in perspective, KIMT Chief Meteorologist Chris Nelson said on his Twitter page Monday that our steamy weather was the hottest the Med City had seen since July 20th. Hoo boy! Bring on the cool, fall weather, am I right?!?
