One Duluth native is about to have a big year: he is featured on Cole Swindell's upcoming fourth studio album - more than once!

You have probably heard of Jordan Schmidt by now, as the former Duluth native has had major success in the Nashville songwriting community. He has written some of the biggest hits in country music over the years.

As a songwriter, he has written number ones for Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton, among so many other hit songs that have been nominated for major awards. In fact, Schmidt himself took home an ACM Award in 2020 for his work writing God's Country, one of the biggest songs of Shelton's career.

He is continuing his hot streak, also having a writing credit on Shelton's newest single. Come Back As A Country Boy is in the top fifteen on the country charts and climbing. Now, he is only adding to his resume with three songs on Stereotype.

Stereotype is the name of Cole Swindell's fourth studio album. He announced the new project on Friday (February 4th) and it features thirteen tracks, including the number one hit Single Saturday Night.

The country star shared the track list along with the album announcement and it features not one but three songs cowritten by Schmidt. The first song is the album opener and the title track, which was written along with Swindell and Hardy.

The same trio wrote yet another song together which comes just after the album opener. The song is called Every Beer. Keeping with the theme of a cold one, the third song Schmidt helped write is called Down To The Bar. That song was written once again with Hardy and Swindell, along with another popular songwriter named Josh Thompson.

Judging by Schmidt's massive success in the country music industry, it is safe to say that all three songs will be big hits. When the album was announced, no details were given on individual tracks so we will have to wait and see what they are all about.

Schmidt was also part of one of the biggest albums, if not the biggest album of 2021. He wrote a song with Morgan Wallen that made it onto his double album Dangerous. The tune was also written with songwriter Chase McGill. The song is all about being from the country and does include some language that isn't safe for work so listen with caution:

Other big moments throughout Schmidt's career include writing the number one hit What Ifs, which went on to become one of the biggest country songs in the past few years. He also penned a few Jason Aldean hits, including Lights Come On and We Back. Both songs went on to become big radio hits.

The Northland has bred other major stars in the country music world as well. A Biwabik native named Emily Shackelton got her big break a few years ago when she helped write Carly Pearce's debut single. Now, the two write together all the time, with Shackelton having a big hand in her breakout 29 album.

Another Minnesota native is also making a name for herself. Caitlyn Smith has been in Nashville for years and is getting her big break with a song on the country charts with Old Dominion. She also opened for George Strait at U.S. Bank last year, which had record-breaking attendance for the venue.
