It's no surprise that the results of last November's election are still a little raw with some parts of the population, but would our 'Minnesota nice' sensibility allow this to happen here?

It's the story of a California couple who voted for different candidates in the election-- he voted for Trump, she voted for Hillary-- and how that difference has now caused them to break up. The thing is, though, they've been married for 22 years!

Wow! That's taking the results a little too seriously, if you ask me. MSN has the entire story HERE, but apparently the wife in this couple said the fact that her hubby voted for Donald Trump was a 'deal breaker.'

In fact, the story says, "'It totally undid me that he could vote for Trump,' said Gayle McCormick, 73, who had not thought of leaving her conservative Republican husband before but felt 'betrayed' by his support for Trump."

Yikes. I've read stories of people who've unfriending long-time friends on Facebook based on the election, but this is the first time I've read about someone actually getting a divorce over it.

It's not my place to judge, of course, and I hope Gayle finds some solace-- with or without her husband-- during these trying times. I'm sure, though, there's no way I'd come to the same conclusion if I was in her situation!

Maybe it's the 'Minnesota nice' in me, but I love my wife too much to even think of splitting up based on the candidate for whom she voted; it wouldn't matter to me at all, she's still the love of my life.

But we voted for the same candidate last year, so perhaps I don't really know how Gayle feels.

What about you-- would YOU break up with your husband or wife based on who they voted for?
