Thursday was another good night in the quest for two home-state contestants on 'American Idol.' Wednesday, we found out St. Paul's Shannon Berthiaume made it into the top 24, and on Thursday, it was revealed that Eden Prairie's Mark Andrew advanced to the next round!

Making to the top 24 is significant, because the competition is now entering the live rounds, with voting done by the national viewing audience. My wife and I were talking, and we can't remember another season on either Idol or The Voice where there were two contestants from Minnesota in the live rounds. (Kat Perkins, from Minneapolis, made it to the live rounds on The Voice a few seasons ago, and Mark Andrew himself made it to the Battle Rounds on The Voice, but was then sent home.)
