If you've been leaving your car all day at Soldiers Field Park in downtown Rochester, get ready to find a new place to park.

That's because the Rochester Park Board approved new parking restrictions in the park last week. This Post-Bulletin story says it means parking will now be restricted to just two hours along various roads (like George Gibbs Drive) and areas in the park from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Exceptions, of course, will be the parking lot east of the pool, near the golf course club house -- you'll be able to park there for up to 5 hours -- as well as areas that are already restricted.

If you recall, last summer, right after Rochesterfest ended, the Park Board shut off the portion of George Gibbs Drive that intersects with 6th Avenue Southwest, eliminating a cut-off road into downtown. (You can get the details on that closing HERE.)

The story said signs will be going up soon that list the new restrictions. The story didn't say, though, WHY the new restrictions were being implemented. (Apparently, all those cars along George Gibbs Drive during weekdays annoy the Board.)

So, if you've still been using George Gibbs Drive as a place to park you car (and walk to work downtown), beware! It looks like you're now out of luck! :(
