Yesterday's truck rollover on South Broadway, near the Highway-52 interchange in Rochester, sure created a mess and backed up traffic for several hours. And thanks to the scrapped cars the truck was carrying, the crash scene looked worse than it really was. But it got my mind wondering, though, about some other rollover scenarios.

Quickcountry.com has the full story of what happened during Monday's rollover HERE. Thankfully, it appears no one was injured, even though the site of several crushed cars that truck was carrying made it look like a horrific scene.

Truck rollovers seem to happen fairly regularly, which isn't surprising seeing the huge job our truckers are tasked with each day, hauling everything to keep our economy moving. But I'm always fascinated by the clean-up scenarios that are created when trucks carrying those somewhat odd loads rollover. Like when a beer truck rolls over and spills hundreds of gallons of beer on the road. Or when a wine truck (more common in California's wine country) does the same thing. Now there's a mess.

When I was a kid, thanks to those unrealistic car crashes in shows like CHiPs, I used to wonder what it'd be like if a truck hauling corn rolled over and the heat from the ensuing explosion (again, thanks to those 70's era shows) caused the corn to pop-- like a really big container of Jiffy Pop. Or, if a cheese truck collided with a truck carrying Doritos-- you'd have a really big 'plate' of nachos to clean up.

In yesterday's rollover, while the already-crushed cars made things look pretty bad, I'm thinking it could have looked even worse. Imagine if another truck carrying, say, prosthetic limbs or mannequins would have collided with the rolled over truck carrying the crushed cars, and then another truck loaded with, say, ripe tomatoes, also rolled over. Fortunately, that didn't happen. But it would have made quite a scene-- imagine happening onto a crash (where hopefully no one is injured) and seeing crushed cars and what appears to be scattered body parts, all surrounded by a red goo. That'd be a scene right out of a Hollywood horror movie!
