Have you ever went on a trip and your luggage didn't make it to your destination? It's legit my worst nightmare and unfortunately, that nightmare became a reality for us at the worst possible time. Not that there's a good time to lose your luggage.

We spent the entire day traveling from the Land of 10,000 Lakes to the scorching deserts of Egypt. When we finally arrived, we waited endlessly at baggage claim for two bags that never showed up. Ugh...

Apparently losing your luggage is a lot more common at certain airlines than I ever would have imagined. Here are the 10 airlines that are most likely to lose your luggage and the overwhelming number of bags they lost between January of 2021 and January of 2024:

Topping the list was American Airlines, which had the worst performance with 1,750,009 reports of lost luggage—averaging 8.71 lost bags per 1,000 loaded onto an aircraft.

Think about that - If there are approximately 250 people on board of each flight, that means they are losing 2 bags for every single flight. Mind blown!
