Minnesota Reporting a Good Tourism Season
Explore Minnesota recently completed a survey that indicates summer has been a good one for tourism in the state. 49% of respondents indicated summer revenue was up. 42% reported occupancy was up compared to the summer of 2018. On the other hand, just 24% reported a decrease in revenue and 26% reported a decrease in summer occupancy. Overall 80% of the respondents rated their current financial health as growing. Respondents included lodging businesses, hotels, motels, resorts, campgrounds and more.
Tourism is a $15.3 billion industry in Minnesota. Some 73 million come to Minnesota each year. As far as the outlook for the approaching fall, 31% expect revenue to be up and 28% anticipate increased occupancy. 14% expect revenue to be down and 15% expect occupancy to be down.
