Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - A team of investigators from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was dispatched to Red Wing early today to assist in a homicide investigation.

A statement issued by the Red Wing Police Department says 27-year-old Dangelo Masterjohn was the victim of a bullet wound and his death is being investigated as a homicide. His body was discovered shortly after midnight by Red Wing Police Officers who responded to a report of an unconscious male lying on the sidewalk in the 400 block of Sanderson Street, which is in a residential neighborhood located a couple blocks south of the Highway 63 bridge over the Mississippi River.

The Associate Press is reporting that investigators have identified a suspect and that person is apparently in custody.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press has published an article that says Masterjohn was sentenced to a month in jail four years ago for failing to cooperate with investigators working on the execution style, gang-related murder of a 20-year-old woman in St. Paul in October 2012. Officials have not said if there is any connection between the two cases.
