Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester School Board voted unanimously last night to approve the school attendance boundary changes recommended by the School District’s Facilities Task Force.

The revisions, which will take effect next fall, are designed to ease overcrowding in three especially crowded elementary schools. A few dozen students will be shifted from Elton Hills and Gage Schools to the Hoover-Churchill attendance area, while a smaller number of Ben Franklin Elementary students will be moved to Pinewood and Riverside schools. School officials estimate about 100 students will be affected by the changes.

The shifts were developed by the Task Force as a short-term fix to the school district's longer-term space problems. The panel was formed earlier this year to develop recommendations, which are expected to include a bond issue referendum, possibly next year, to fund the construction of new facilities.
