This Wisconsin waterpark will soon be the king of cannon balls and lazy rivers, as it just announced it would be adding a massive 75,000-square-foot expansion.

Grab your swimming goggles, because one waterpark behind the Cheddar Curtain over in Wisconsin is about to make a splash bigger than a brandy Old Fashioned Friday Night Fish Fry (which, as a native of America's Dairyland, I can tell you is already a big deal.)

While Minnesota is, of course, the Land of 10,000 Lakes. But Wisconsin Dells, located a little over three hours southeast of the Twin Cities, is known as the Waterpark Capital of the World. And, that's not just a title they came up with as a marketing gimmick, either. Travel Wisconsin, the state's tourism agency, says the Wisconsin Dells area is home to the 'largest concentration of indoor and outdoor waterparks on Earth,' featuring 20 different parks.

And now, one of them is about to get even bigger. You might recall that last summer, Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park Resort in Wisconsin Dells opened a brand new waterslide, called The Rise of Icarus which is now the tallest waterslide in the country. It features a slide that will plunge you a whopping 145 feet!

But wait, there's more: The Kalahari Resort Wisconsin Dells just announced that it'll be adding a massive $85 million, 75,000-square-foot expansion that will add three new waterslides, plus a 4-lane racing slide, and more.

According to a post on the Kalahari Resorts Facebook page, construction on their expansion in Wisconsin Dells is already underway and will feature:

The new glass-enclosed, open-air waterpark expansion will feature three thrilling new water slides – two 6-person raft slides Wild Wildebeest and Green Python and the super fun Cheetah Mat Racers, a 4-lane racing slide. Dip into the Lost Lagoon Spa Pool, make a beeline for the Watering Hole Pool with zero-depth entry and tanning ledges, take the kiddos to the Coral Cove Kiddie Slide Pool, or relax at The Grotto adult swim-up bar.

The Kalahari also said that guests in Wisconsin Dells will also be able to 'enjoy a 40-inch wide big-screen TV display, additional food and beverage options, and enhanced seating and comfort options, including new cabanas and whirlpool cabanas,' the resort said.

Kalahari Resort Wisconsin Dells went on to say that construction crews are already working on the massive expansion and says a target opening date is set for the fall of 2026.
