They were a massively popular group that topped the country music charts for over 10 years, and they happened to play their final show right here in Minnesota. However, they have now just reunited for the first time in years.

We may be known for our 10,000 lakes here in Minnesota, but in addition to them, we also have numerous venues and festivals that have hosted a ton of popular singers and groups. There's U.S. Bank Stadium, Huntington Bank Stadium, Target Field, and Target Center in Minneapolis, Grand Casino Arena, CHS Field, and Allianz Field in St. Paul.

Then there are other venues, like Treasure Island, Mystic Lake, along with the new Mystic Lake Amphitheater, all of which host music events, as well as smaller venues in Rochester, Mankato, and St. Cloud. And don't forget all those festivals scattered throughout the state, too.

And, lest we forget, the Minnesota State Fair has hosted a TON of incredible artists during its Grandstand Series over the years. But during the 2022 run of the Great Minnesota Get-Together, the venue hosted the last-ever concert of the popular country group, Florida Georgia Line.

Florida Georgia Line (FGL) is a group (or are they just a duo?) made up of Brian Kelly and Tyler Hubbard. They charted their first big country hit over 14 years ago and have become one of the most popular country groups around. Their website has listed some of their achievements:

  • Hold the best-selling digital country single of all time, the 11X-platinum hit, Cruise
  • Became the first country act to achieve Diamond certification of 10 million copies sold
  • Hold the longest reign on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart (50 straight weeks)
  • Have tallied 9.3 billion streams
  • Exceeded 33.6 million track downloads
  • Sold more than 4.6 million albums
  • Scored 16 #1 hit singles

However, FGL announced back in 2021 that the group was going to put things on hold for a while while the guys pursued various solo projects. Is the group breaking up? Well, it seems like it-- but FGL says it's more accurate to say they're 'taking a break,' as this CountryNow story noted. But is that break now over?

FGL Reunites on Stage at 2026 CMA Music Fest

Unofficially, yes, as the guys performed for the first time as FGL during the first night of the 2026 CMA Music Fest in Nashville. According to the industry site Country Insider, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly met on-stage at Nissan Stadium on Thursday, June 4th, 2026, where they then performed two of their songs, Round Here and Cruise.

The last time they performed together was when FGL took the grandstand right here in the Gopher State, at the Minnesota State Fair on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022. Meanwhile, Tyler Hubbard was right back here in Minnesota a few months later, opening for the final date of Keith Urban's 'Speed of Now' World Tour at the then-Xcel Energy Center in November 2022 (where he referenced how it was appropriate that Minnesota was the site of Keith's last tour date because it was also the location of FGL's last show ever).

Tyler Hubbard’s Ongoing Minnesota Connections After FGL Break

He also performed live at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis in April of 2022 and was a featured performer at that year's Ashley For The Arts festival in Arcadia, WI. He even played a show at the Iowa State Fair in 2022.

Hubbard also appeared back in our fair state at the Varsity Theatre in Minneapolis in April of 2023, as well as performing that year at the Lakefront Music Fest in Prior Lake in July 2023, and also played the Lakes Jam Festival in Brainerd in 2024.

Will there be a full-blown FGL tour sometime in the near future? While it's not likely yet this year, who knows what could happen in 2027? And if there is a new FGL reunion tour, would it also stop here in Minnesota? Stay tuned...
